Overgaauw Merlot 2003

The 1982 vintage of Overgaauw Merlot was the first wine of this variety to be bottled in South Africa.

A serious wine, despite its immediate juicy raspberry, chocolate and wood-spice appeal. The meaty undertones and firm backbone attest to the careful construction and promise of 5 or more years ageing. Sleek, smooth-textured and showcasing an array of red fruits, it is already drinking beautifully.

Note about past vintages
All the initial vines have been replaced with virus-free material. The clones now used give more pronounced varietal flavours than in past years.
