Overgaauw Merlot 2004

4½ stars John Platter wine Guide 2007
The 1982 vintage of Overgaauw Merlot was the first wine of this variety to be bottled in South Africa.
The wine reflects optimum vineyard and cellar care. Powerful dark berry fruit tones resulting from the berry’s perfect condition and ripeness, has married well with the delicate savoury spice, from the extended oak maturation. While the juicy lively medium bodied palate is designed for drinking pleasure, this elegant wine has a misleading accessibility and has the backbone to age for up to 5 years.
