This wine is named after Ansela van de Caab, a child born into slavery. In 1699 the governor of the Cape granted a piece of land to a German, Lourens Campher. He married Ansela after she was freed and together they built a humble house, which still exists, and they planted the first vines on Muratie.A deep velvet hue. Meaty extract complimented with green peppery nose. Hints of cigar box and vanilla. This is a full-bodied wine, with a good balance between the acid and tannins. A excellent food wine.
ageing : Ansela is a big wine and it will reward patience, but it is very enjoyable now and should be enjoyed within 5-7 years.
