ageing : A full flavoured structured wine that will mature well over the next 6-10 years.

in the vineyard : Planted on our more fertile alluvial vlei soils on the banks of the Eerste River, these vines grow well. They are trellised on a four wire hedge trellis system and are pruned back to two eye spurs. To restrict yield and promote light penetration for better colour, we practise an extensive summer pruning programme. The vines are twelve years old and require supplementary irrigation when necessary.

about the harvest: The grapes were harvested on the 16th February 1998 at 24.2° Balling.

in the cellar : The wine underwent 100% maturation in 225 litre new French oak barrels.
