Groot Constantia Chardonnay 2001

Chardonnay shows a variety of ripe tropical fruit mixed with citrus fruit on the nose. The peaches and lime follows through on the palate. Exceptionally popular wine.
Serving suggestion: Ideal with smoked salmon, perlemoen, lobster, roast duck, pork and rabbit.

in the vineyard : Climate: Mediterranean - Wonderful cool breezes coming from the Indian Ocean as well as the Atlantic Ocean. With an average rainfall of 1100 mm per annum. Although the weather this year was much cooler compared to last year.

Soil Type: Mostly Hutton but also Cartref mostly from the higher part of the slopes, as well as some of the low lying areas.

about the harvest: Grapes were picked a little later than last year due to the cooler climate and some wonderful quality grapes. Picked at 23º Balling.
